The NHL brings us nine games tonight. This season is really something really special as there’s been crazy results, a lot of goals and players deliver more points than ever.
Attack, attack, attack on home ice
Pittsburgh has been incredibly strong in recent months and is constantly advancing up the table. Before tonight’s meeting, they are in third place in the Eastern Conference after winning 90 points in 67 matches. The team is four points behind second placed Florida and three points behind first placed Carolina.
The team broke its 2 game losing streak in the last game when they completely pulverized Detroit and eventually won 11-2! No NHL team has scored thato many goals in one game in 19 years! Looking at the last nine games, Pittsburgh have won six and can be considered strong, despite losing two straight games previously.
At home, the Penguins have been very strong in the last month or so as they have won four straight games, all after regular playing time. Detroit, Columbus, Carolina and Vegas have been beaten. During this home streak, Sidney Crosby’s team have scored an incredible 25 (!) Goals going forward. That is an average of over 6.25 goals per match.
Rangers are aiming for the top
NY Rangers is closing in on Pittsburgh with only one point less(89). Furthermore, it should be added that the Manhattan team have played one game less than the Penguins.
The form is good at the moment as they have won four of their last five matches. Most recently, they defeated Buffalo 5-4 after extra time and in the game before that they beat the night’s opponent, Pittsburgh, with a clear 5-1 at home in Madison Square Garden.
The away game has also been going well in recent times. Most recently, they fell short though when NJ Devils beat the 7-4, but before that they lined up three wins against Carolina, Tampa Bay and Dallas. This shows how strong Rangers have been lately.
Tonights betting pick
Over 5.5 goals – available on Unibet at -121.
Considering the games lately with goals galore everywhere , -121 on over 5.5 goals in any match is very good. Pittsburgh has played four straight games with Over 5.5 goals (11-2, 1-5, 3-4 SO, 5-1) while the NY Rangers’ last three fights ended with 6+ goals (5-4 OT, 5-1, 4-7). If the team’s offensives continue to bubble, this will be a new goal party. The Penguins are also hungry for revenge after the 1-5 loss last time and are expected to come out at a furious pace. Furthermore, five of the last six mutual meetings have ended with 6+ goals.
