Super Bowl XLIV (Saints v Colts)
In 2010, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts got things off to a flyer and they surged into a 10-point lead, but they were unable to keep the momentum going against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. But Tom Brady, who was more often than not the driving force for the Patriots, turned the game on its head to secure a 28-24 lead. More drama was to ensue and the Seahawks made the cardinal error of not passing to Marshawn Lynch, and Malcolm Butler intercepted as the Patriots to complete the stunning comeback.
Super Bowl LI (Patriots v Falcons)
Once again, the Patriots were at the center of an extraordinary Super Bowl comeback in 2017 against the Atlanta Falcons. Remarkably, Brady and co were trailing by a whopping 25 points (28-3) with only eight minutes and 13 seconds remaining in the third quarter. But Brady put in another superhuman display as he scored on five consecutive drives, which included two touchdown drives and two 2-point conversions that took the game into overtime.
And once overtime kicked off, things fell apart for the Falcons. By the time the game had finished, the Patriots orchestrated 93 offensive plays to the Falcons’ meager return of 46, and the Patriots kept their heads amid the chaos. A game for the ages!
Super Bowl XXV (Giants v Bills)
While this might not be the biggest point deficit overturned, the New York Giants overcame their eastern neighbors Buffalo Bills in enthralling fashion in 1991. The Giants were 12-3 down during the second quarter, and the crowning moment was an incredible 75-yard touchdown. And with eight seconds of the game, the Bills lined up for a 47-yard field goal, but it was a far from comfortable spot for Scott Norwood, and his miss still resonates with Bills fans. It was perhaps one of the most infamous wins in Super Bowl history.
Super Bowl XLVI (Giants v Patriots)
Rounding off this carefully curated is the Giants. But this time, the Patriots were on the wrong end of the scoreline. The Giants came into the game as the underdogs, and they were 17-9 down at one point. But once again, it went down to the wire. A pair of field goals saw the gap reduced to two points (17-15). But an Eli Manning-led touchdown drive in the dying stages of the game proved to be the difference and the Patriots went down 21-17. Simply extraordinary stuff!
